Established in 1997, the Disaster Preparedness Network (DP-Net) as a loose association of individual
organisations within the development sector in Nepal, which are concerned with disaster management is become a registered
Network after a decade of successful network functioning in 2007.
Its GON Reg. No. is 1278 - 063/064 DAO Kathmandu
and SWC Affiliation No. is 22628.
The network aims to assist individuals and
organisations to prepare for, and respond to and manage disaster should it strike. DP-Net works closely with Government of
Nepal (GoN) through its (GoN) agencies, which are concerned with disaster preparedness and management. DP-Net complements
the effort of these agencies to inform and prepare organisations and communities to deal effectively with disasters. DP-Net
are concerned with natural disasters such as earthquake, floods, droughts and landslide. It will also cover disasters such
as epidemic, flood and fire that occur often in towns and villages.
DP-Net aims to assist and work closely with
the Government institutions but as facilitator to Disaster Preparedness activities in Nepal. Thus, DP-Net allows and encourages
promoting effective coordination and communication as well developing knowledge management with its all stakeholders in Nepal.
Our Mission!!
DP-Net is envisioned as a mutually
beneficial, service oriented, sharing platform, resource and information center and focal point for agencies and individuals
involved in disaster management activities.
DP Net promote and advocate to development institutions and individual
practitioners the need and importance of linking disaster to development for a sustainable development initiatives and reduce
the negative impact of any disaster prone country like Nepal. and skills of ensuring participation for empowerment of the
people who are the subject of development.
The main purpose of DP-Net is to enhance the capacity and improve the performance
of its members/ partners to share, design, implement and sustain disaster preparedness activities in Nepal. I addition, DP-Net
aims to promote and spread sustainable disaster preparedness and management activities with a view to link disaster to development
throughout Nepal.

The 3rd Annual General Assembly meeting
of DPNet-Nepal was successfully completed on 31st July, 2009. On that day, New Executive committee was selected comprising

The Disaster Preparedness Network- Nepal (DPNet-Nepal) is a network of institutions and individuals
working in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)/ Disaster Management (DM) in Nepal. The DPNet-Nepal began as a loose
network in the year 1996 through the initiations of like-minded institutions and people. It got official recognition after
being registered with the District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu under the NGO Registration Act on June 8, 2007 (Jestha
25, 2064 BS). Currently, it has over 63 members.
